Welcome to my life, or as I like to call it: A Sparkling Mess

They say Life is Beautiful. But it can also be so, so hard. And Messy. And sometimes downright craptastic!!!! Sure, there is the everyday slog, the monotonous routines that keep us on the caffeine wagon for EVA! But I am talking about the BIG THINGS. The really amazing, “holy sh*t, I cannot believe this is happening type stuff”. There seems to be an abundance of this flying    around my world right now. And it is NOT COOL, Universe, NOT COOL!

Now I am a positive, glass half full, look on the bright side, silver lining kind of Gal. My sister likes to call me Pollyanna. Whatevs, it works for me. But even MY rosy outlook is being tinged a bit grey lately. Without going into too much detail, let’s just say there have been some major sh*tstorms rained down upon my loved ones in the last year in the form of medical emergencies, both physical and mental/emotional. 2018/19 straight up sucked, ya’ll! I am talking minor issues and major life altering moments.

The point of this rant is not to garner your sympathy (although lovely thoughts and good vibes are ALWAYS welcome!) but to remind us of what we have. Yes, Life is messy, downright ugly sometimes, but oh how beautiful and even sparkling it can be! This last year has been a hard one, but some great things have happened too! I have been through hard years before (several, in fact) and I know that I will survive, maybe even triumph eventually. But only with the help of my TRIBE!

I woke up this morning to a Facebook video (you know, the kind Facebook puts together for you of past posts etc. hoping you will share the love?). I rarely take time to cruise my Facebook feed anymore and have missed out on lots of great posts from my friends and loved ones, I am sure, but in times of crisis…Facebook isn’t my priority. Something about this video tho, really captured my attention. It was a celebration of Friendship Day, and it was memories of all the great things I have done, places I have gone, and groups I support with my FRIENDS. And I realized that I have a great group of Friends! And those Friends have really shown up for me and my family over the years. And I know I could reach out to anyone of them, no matter how far away, and they would be there for me. This makes me smile. This makes my heart warm. Just knowing that I have a TRIBE out there that has my back. Some don’t always know what is happening in my life on a daily basis, just as I don’t know what is happening in theirs, but I know they are there, that they care, and that we are connected in an amazing way. Some of those friends are right beside me in the day to day slog and we get through together with laughter and tears and wine. Lots of wine.

That video reminded me of the Sparkling Mess that is my life…no matter how crazy, scary, messy, and big things get…My life is beautiful, lovely, and sparkling in a way that makes me happy!

I hope you have a TRIBE that sparks joy in your life, even in the toughest of times.

If not, you are WELCOME to join mine! Just bring wine.
